Many People in Rocky Point, Mexico live in small
one room shacks. Their homes have dirt floors with no electricity or
running water. The walls often are made of any pieces of wood,
cardboard or metal that can be salvaged by the family. Holes in the
roof and walls offer little protection from the elements. In some
cases, homes are completely destroyed by wind storms due to the lack
of proper supplies. During a recent winter, several children
and elderly became sick and died due to inadequate protection from
the wind, cold and rain.
Every month, the A.I.M. group visit Rocky Point to
distribute food and build houses for those in need. A standard new
house is small (12' x 28') but provides a sturdy shelter with two
rooms and a dry, concrete floor. More than that, the new home offers
hope for a better future and is a tangible sign of God's love for
them.
