   About AIM

It all began in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Puerto Peñasco is a popular vacation destination just three and one half hours South of Phoenix. It was on one of many vacation trips of fun and relaxation when God laid a heavy burden on the hearts of the Rose and Jay Silva.

Not far from the popular beaches and restaurants of Puerto Peñasco (more commonly known as Rocky Point) lays a community of impoverished families called Colonia Oriente.

It is easy to identify all of the suffering and hardships caused by a lack of basic necessities such as shelter, electricity, food and water – but the Silva’s also saw a great spiritual need among these people. 1997 was a life-changing year for the Silva’s. The Association for International Ministries (A.I.M.) was conceived.

In 1999, AIM’s first project, Mission La Hermosa, was completed to meet the spiritual needs of this community. Since that time, two shower and toilet rooms have been added. Soon to be completed will be the addition of the children’s Sunday school room. AIM achieved non-profit status in December 2000 and is in the process of becoming a Mexican Corporation in order to gain credibility from the Mexican government, as well as the community, and to aid in business transactions in Mexico.

Juaro and Rose Juaro and Rose Silva
We are the founders of AIM which was founded in 1998. Through God's vision we have have built a house of worship and have made our presence known and trusted by the village we serve. We continue to work along side the team to make the Community Center come to life. We are also active with projects in Brazil.

Harold Tuttle Harold Tuttle
My name is Harold Tuttle. I have been a board member with AIM since 2001. My wife and I currently attend Shiloh Community Church. We found that Mexico has a special place in our hearts, and even though we did not know this on our first trip, we realize now that God had planned this out for us a long time ago. My role on the board is to direct the building of our planned community center in the heart of Colonia Oriente as well as purchasing food for distribution amid the community each month. I also work with the community social worker and fellow board member, Blanca Soto, with the non profit arm in Mexico, La Esperanza Para Nuevo Vida.

I have been a board member with Aim since 2001. Wit ha little prodding, my husband and I went on our first trip in April of 1999. God opened our eyes to this community where there was so much need. I take care of the Children's Sponsorship program, which provides the income needed to fund our food distribution each month in Colonia Oriente. It also supplements three big events each year, Dia Del Nino in April, School Supplies in August and Christmas in December. It is so wonderful to be able to serve in this way.

Bert Hunt Bert Hunt
I attend Desert Springs Bible Church in Phoenix. AIM board member, serving with AIM since September 2003. I am the AIM contact person for our church and organizing part of the monthly trips, assisting wherever needed, emphasis on evangelism and media. Why serve with AIM? It's where God has chosen for me to serve at this time. Serving Him with a lot of people who humbly and unselfishly look for ways to obey God and find ways to please Him. I am looking forward to whatever God has planned for us to do for Him, being loved by Him and loving people. I love to see how Jesus impacts lives.
